Dear Pat,
I was so sad to hear of Marjorie’s passing. I have fond memories of working with Marjorie in the Education Dept., UCC, as part of the team on the teaching of English. We had great discussions on key issues of language and literature over the years and such fun and banter. Marjorie was an inspiration and a highly experienced teacher who shared that expertise with beginning teachers. She was a great role model and had a lovely way with her. I was away for some weeks and missed the funeral and am so glad to be able to leave this message now. My sincere sympathy, Pat, to you and your family. I met Grace O’Sullivan today and we had a lovely chat about Marjorie. She was highly thought of and will be sorely missed. She made a huge contribution to the education of young teachers at UCC. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Mrs Kinsella . She was my teacher in senior cycle and again when I did the Hdip. She always paused whatever we reading in class and closed the book and gave you time to think and form your own opinion . A teacher that teaches you how to think is truly priceless . Her solid advice of “know the text” and “Grinds are only a crutch “ are words I have always remembered . She was always so calm and kind and from what I remember there was always a que to get into her debating club. She is a part of some great memories of my time in Colaiste Choilm . My condolences to Mr Kinsella and the family .
