Mark was such a lovely gentleman, and always had a smile for everyone.
He was a wonderful neighbour and will be sadly missed.

Our deepest sympathy to the Boland family. We were shocked and saddened to hear of Mark's sudden passing.
In 2008, Mark very kindly took photographs of our wedding day, and managed to capture some truly beautiful moments for us to cherish.
We didn't have a lot of money at the time but Mark acted as our wedding photographer without charge. Over the years we have often spoken about Mark and the incredible gift he gave to us on that day. He showed us great kindness and we will forever be grateful to him.

I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our dear friend, Mark. He was a remarkable man — incredibly creative, full of life, and always bringing a spark of joy to those around him. His passion for photgraphy and his vibrant personality will forever be remembered.

Mark had a way of making everything feel brighter, and his energy was contagious. He had an uncanny ability to inspire others, leaving behind a legacy of creativity and warmth. His laughter, kindness, and the way he lived life with such enthusiasm will never be forgotten.

During this difficult time, my thoughts are with his family and everyone who was touched by his presence. May you find comfort in the beautiful memories he has left behind, and know that his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.

I was so sorry to her this news. Mark (Bolo) was my Patrol Leader when I joined the Scout Troop in Donnybrook many years ago and I participated in many Scout activities over the years with him. I also remember with fondness regular visits to the Blackrock Outdoor Baths in the Summers of 1973 and 74. He was far too young to die and I really do extend heartfelt sympathies to Eileen and Alex and all his extended family and friends. May he Rest in Peace.

Mark was a wonderfully kind generous intelligent man with a big heart. Exceptionally talented at photography, cooking and conversation. He loved his wife Eileen, his son, Alex and his late son, James, with all his heart and more.
There’s a dark hole in each of our hearts where once a sparkling light once shone. But we know over time that it will slowly glow again as it gradually fills with more and more happy memories. And that is preferable than to have never known Mark at all. Thank you for all the fantastic walks, every nook and cranny of the Wicklow and Dublin mountains has been covered! Thank you for all numerous evenings and Christmas’ of inviting us into your home and getting to enjoy the amazing food and excellent company. Words will never be enough to say the deep appreciation we had of this. Thank you for just always having been there. Friendship, kindness and much much more.

Liam Mulcahy, erstwhile Group Photographic Manager, Independent News and Media and Peter Caviston introduced me to Mark during Bloomsday in Glasthule years ago. Since then,we have covered many asignments. Mark, a great gentleman and a brilliant photographer, went above duty to ensure best quality. Thank you Mark. I had the pleasure of getting to know Mark in recent years whenever we'd walk the pier together, or join him out on a hike in the mountains with Martin, his longstanding friend. He was wonderful company and an instinctively kind person. His face would light up at a funny anecdote or a witty comment (he often delivered many of them himself). I shall miss him greatly and am deeply saddened by his passing. My heartfelt condolences to Eileen and Alex.

Mark was one of those unique people who, with his generosity of spirit always went further than was necessary. A wonderful photographer with a unique and talented ability to always get the best shot, we collaborated on many publications together.
