Sincere sympathy to Frances and all the family at this sad time. Rest in peace Mark. On behalf of Wexford Branch IKA
Condolences to all of Mark's extended family on his death. I knew Mark in the early 1980s, lets call ourselves the Parkgate Street gang as we usually had a pint in W. Ryan's pub there. When the gang scattered to the winds, I met him on and off over the years, and heard news on the bush telegraph. Saddened by his death, he loved a laugh and was a great human being. RIP Mark
Dear Frances, my sincere condolences to you on the sad passing of Mark.
I wish to convey sincere sympathy to Frances and Mark's family, all of whom he loved and was so very proud of. Mark was truly an exceptional person. His empathetic nature reached out to all he encountered. He had a deep understanding of the many difficulties kidney patients faced. He assisted and guided people with ease, enthusiasm and energy. His knowledge of renal disease was extraordinary and so it was no surprise that he received post addressed to 'Dr Mark Murphy' which hugely amused him. Mark was recognised for consistently having a listening ear, sharing his knowledge with every patient and family member he came in contact with. His intelligence and ability to absorb information and analyse statistics was legendary. He was respected by both kidney patients and medics who frequently sought his advice. His sense of humour was infamous, he always sought out the fun side of life whilst understanding the difficulties which accompany illness. His work ethic meant he was available and contactable 24 hours a day. His determination to improve the lives of kidney patients encouraged him to attend conferences where he sought out the most up-to-date information which informed his work. His drive to promote organ donation meant that he never refused a media opportunity to convey this important message. Mark and I met over forty-one years ago, his enthusiasm and drive never diminished but rather increased with each passing day. May he rest in peace.
