I am so deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our former lecturer in St Patrick’s College Drumcondra — and my dear friend.
Mark had a rare gift for seeing potential in others and nurturing it with patience, wisdom, and genuine care. I will always be grateful for his encouragement and the thoughtful conversations that challenged and inspired in equal measure.
His friendship, kindness, integrity, and humour left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
My heartfelt condolences to Mark’s family, colleagues, former students, and all who mourn his loss.

Sincere sympathy to Nancy and all Mark's family on the sad news of Mark's passing. He was a wonderful educator and a wonderful colleague who lit up the staff room and lectures with his wisdom and care for staff and students alike. I first met Mark when he was one of the co-founders of the Age Friendly University in Dublin City University. Some years later, it was a joy to meet Mark in the staff room surrounded by staff on St Patrick's campus. Although retired, Mark continued to have a great sense of humour and to be very inspiring to so many of us. His care for staff and for older and younger students continued to be very evident. It was a pleasure to work with Mark who was an absolute gentleman with a wonderful intellect. May Mark rest in peace.

Deepest sympathies to Nancy and the extended Morgan family. I had the privilege of having Mark as a lecturer and home TP supervisor in St Pat's in the 80s and again briefly as a colleague in the late 90s. Generations of teachers benefitted from his specialist knowledge, exemplary teaching, kindness and generosity. Mark was also very proud of his NE Galway heritage and connections. Fear uasal amach is amach. Tá laoch ar lár. Solas na bhFlaitheas go bhfeice sé.

Our paths first crossed when I was doing the H Dip in Ed in 1978 in UCD and he was my supervisor.
We met later at conferences etc and Mark was always a sensible, practical educator who understood the inherent value of small rural schools. Above all else he was a gentleman in every sense of the word.
