I met Mark in London the day before he moved to Dublin and so I truly believe it was fate that allowed us to meet. Since then, we’ve messaged almost every day for the past five years. He was always there for me and never failed to make me laugh or smile.
I once told Mark that if I could wish for anything, it would be to see the world through his eyes for a day. His energy was radiant, and the way he interacted with the world around him was beautiful. His love for art, culture and community reflected his passion for the wonders of the human condition. He taught me so many lessons about life, lessons that have taken root inside of me.
Just days before he passed, we had planned to see each other again after some missed opportunities and so learning of his passing was heartbreaking. I have so many wonderful memories with Mark and I’m grateful that my last memories with him were amongst the most beautiful. I’ll never forget how, in those moments, the colours and sounds of the world seemed to grow more vibrant than ever before.
Mark and I laughed, cried and argued together. The night before he passed, we had been going back and forth, sending each other silly reels on Instagram. His last message to me, poignantly reads: “Ha. The End ❤️.” However, I believe that just because he is gone that does not mean our relationship with him has ended. The love we shared with Mark is still here and in that sense he will always be a part of us.
Will miss you forever, “Spook”.
Love,
“Feral”

Some rare creatures walk this earth, and each moment they give feels like a gift —wrapped in gold (or, in Marks's case, a well-worn bomber jacket) and touched by grace. Mark's rarest gift was this: to make you think, in his presence, as though the world had shrunk to just the two of you. Each moment with Mark held no rush, no impatience—only the still and sacred art of listening.
When Mark gave his time, it felt endless, as though the hours themselves stretched to make room for him. His attention was not fleeting; it was a benediction. And in those moments, he made us feel seen—indeed seen—as if the very turning of the earth had paused so that he might quietly remind us of our worth.
They say we do not remember days; we remember moments. And how rich we are to carry the moments Mark gave us—each one infused with his generosity, boundless kindness, quiet depth, and rare and radiant beauty of the soul.
Like the bards of our ancient isle, Mark knew the unspoken tradition of a well-lived—life through great, roaring gestures but also in the gentle strength of his presence. He was, and will always remain, a rare and steadfast light in a world that too often forgets to stop, listen, and truly see one and give time to another.

I met Mark when he admired my COS look in the COS shop some years ago. We immediately got on - a long chat that led to many more coffee meetings to discuss architecture (my profession), creativity (his) and flowers (my hobby). He was an extraordinary person - so open, giving and generous. He asked for nothing in return for his encouragement or expertise - just a friendship. That was Mark.
We lost touch in Covid, but he was often in my thoughts, and only last week, while in COS, I wondered where he was.
I extend my sympathies to his family, colleagues and friends. I shall continue to remember him as one of the lovely people I have met in my 70 years.

Dear Mark! You were a wonderful person, talented, kind, warm-hearted, friendly and careful. You have always been so open to the world. In September you came to our performance at the Hermitage Theater, where we met you, and now you’re gone. This is an irreparable loss, because you died so early. Rest in peace…

Devastated to hear this news. Mark was such a lovely, passionate soul. We came in and out of each other's lives in a work capacity many times over the years, and we had such a lovely connection; he was so much fun to be around. I have been rereading our texts to one another today; he had such a lovely way of greeting and signing off all his messages, "Hello, lovely Sive," and always ending with a big X - so full of love and impact. Sending love & strength to all his family and friends. Sive

Sincere condolences to Anne, Seth and all the Quinn family as well to those who knew and loved Mark across the world.
True one off and a wonderful friend. I shall miss him greatly and remember with warmth always; his grace; fierce intelligence; enthusiasm; compassion; curiosity and kindness all wrapped up with a wicked sense of humour.
Mark saw the things most missed and had a deep joyous interest in all aspects of life. Who wanted to know who you were, where you came from, where you wanted to go and if he could help get you there, he would, no questions asked, no favour required in return.
He just wanted the best for those he met and for the world at large.
I have a million memories, but I keep thinking about a lunch we had early last spring at my local in Somerset – where as ever, he knew someone, Mark knew someone everywhere. He was just the most wonderful company that day, full of excitement and hope for the future, we chatted through everything; our respective lives; families; work – the best advice as usual – and as always with Mark I felt his light shine on me and truly seen for me as me. Gave him a lift afterwards and we were chatting about the beauty of the countryside and just about how beautiful life could be, as I dropped him off, I watched him walk away with that purposeful spring in his step and felt so privileged.
MQ, what a man. A superstar.
