Sincere sympathy to Lena on the sad passing of your dear husband Martin, condolences also to Tom, May, Nora and Evelyn on the loss of your brother. I am thinking of you all at this difficult time.
I have very fond memories of growing up in Knoxbarrett alongside the Bourke family as our neighbours. We had great fun together playing and working side by side over the years - they were great days.
One memory that stands out, is the bonfires at the top of the road. Martin was always at the heart of organising them, with us all gathering bog dale and bits for the fire weeks in advance. On the night itself we would have music and refreshments and all the neighbours would come out and join in. It was always a great night and a highlight for everyone.
Over the years, whenever I was down from Galway visiting my brother, it was always lovely to catch up with Martin, when himself and Lena were out for their walk and they would always pop in for a visit.
Martin was a wonderful neighbour, full of community spirit and he will be dearly missed. May his kind and gentle soul rest now in heavenly peace.

Condolences to my dear friend Lena as you farewell to Martin. We all enjoyed good times in Ballina in the 1960s and later. Hope you find the strength to deal with your great loss.

Dear Lena and all the family. We are so sorry and sad to hear of Martin's passing. Such a gentleman and we have so many fond memories of spending time with Martin. I will miss seeing Martin on my visits back to Knoxbarrett. I am so glad I saw him in October for a chat. Memories are everything and what great memories we have.
