He always spoke very fondly of his grandchildren and family. He was a wealth of knowledge and I learned something new each time we met. I was in awe as he discussed career achievements. Sincere condolences to Maura and family on the passing of Martin. My first memory of Martin was him playing guitar in our home many years ago, May his gentle soul rest in peace.

I would like to offer my condolences to the Giblin Family for their sad loss. Martin was friends with my brothers but we all hung out together in Phibsboro. We knew the whole family. They were great neighbours, we lived beside them on the Phibsboro Road. Martin, Veronica and Bridgit, Anne, Bernard, John Francis. They were our friends. Martin was a comic, always had great stories. We were all into sports, great memories, Martin has left his lovely family to soon. May he rest in peace. Martin will never be forgotten he is a ledgend. The Phibsborough neighbours are very proud of him, he achieved so much.

Martin was involved in some of the most important and seminal litigation in modern times. He was to the fore in the McBrearty cases and the investigation into Garda corruption at the Morris Tribunal which itself emerged from the serious issues which the McBrearty cases raised.
Martin had a quiet way about him. But he was steely. I recall him refusing to reveal who had provided him with information which he had obtained on a confidential basis a demand he resisted all the way to the Supreme Court who directed him to reveal his source. Many would have buckled much sooner. It was a mark of his willingness to abide by a point of principle. I thought this very admirable. Many others did too. He made a difference and is missed.

Condolences from all the Breatnach family to all Martin's family and friends. A warrior has been laid low.
But his personal and human rights campaigning life is an inspiration to many. I first met him in 1976 when he acted as my able Junior Barrister in the notorious Sallins Case (1976-2925). He never forgot the lessons of that case and continued to pick the side of the marginalised for the rest of his too-short life. And he paid the price for taking sides, unflinchingly.

I was so shocked and saddened to learn of Martin’s passing.
We were school friends through Plas Mhuire and St Paul’s Brunswick Street, doing our leaving certificate in 1969. We frequently walked home together and had conversations I still remember. A great Phibsboro man. God bless his soul.

My condolences to Martin’s family and friends. He was Chair of axis Ballymun through much of my tenure there. A wise and humble man. Martin was a true gentleman who had a deep love for people. I am sorry to be away and unable to attend his funeral in person.
