Today Martin was laid to rest and it was quite evident how much he was loved and how much he meant to so Many. Martin has been a constant in my life for as long as I can remember. My fondest memories are of Martin walking his beloved dog Bruno in the mornings and giving him hot soup on a cold morning, trips in the back of his car down the country as a child, buying me a fancy dressed orange and endless packets of crisps, Making me tea at the house and having our yearly tradition of plum pudding and cream. It has always been Lizzy and Martin, they are a duo and always will be, Lizzy you are special to us all and you are loved after all you are Martins "sweetie" let's call a spade a spade, Martin was one of life's Gentlemen and he loved his life, goodbye pal, we will have that pint again xxxxxx
So sorry for your great loss Lizzy, condolences to you and Martins family and many friends. Martin was an absolute Gent in every aspect of his life and it was a privilege and an honour to have him as a part of all off ours, Martin will be cherished and remembered always in our house for his kind soul and funny sense of humor, May Martin be met with the best bed in heaven and may he rest in eternal peace, our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this very sad and difficult time.

Martin was a great man, A true legend and a pleasure knowing him over the years when playing for castle.

Martin was a gentleman and I’ll always remember him fondly from my time at Castle Park and growing up in Monksfield. He’d be knocking on my door to get me out of bed for the games on a Sunday—great bunch of lads, and Martin was a legend.
I’ll always remember his catchphrase whenever one of the lads was going on the pitch: “Make a name for yourself.” He’d do anything for the club and the lads.
He’ll be sorely missed.
RIP Martin, I’ll see you for a pint when I get there.

The heartbeat of Castle Park, his meticulous book-keeping would put even the best accountants to shame. Martin thrived on the banter and craic on the sidelines, his legendary one-liners bringing laughter to all. We have lost one of the greats. Rest in peace Murt.
