I can honestly say I got a pang in my heart when I heard the very sad news of Martin’s passing.

I had the pleasure of working with Martin for 5 years. As a worker , he was so obliging to his colleagues. Nothing was ever too much trouble and he constantly went the extra yard for the team. As a human being , he excelled. He was funny , kind , considerate and always had time for a chat. Many a working morning for the two of us was started with a trip to the canteen for a cup of tea and a chat. “ Are we going for tea Squire? ” , he would say to me every morning . He took me under his wing when I started in the Finglas office and I will be eternally grateful for that.

Every year on Valentines Day, he displayed his humour and kindness to the female
staff members when he would take on the annual role of a secret admirer by leaving a small packet of sweets and a rose on the desks of the staff. He would gain great amusement from the reactions of the staff to their secret admirer and in this
regard, his thoughtfulness knew no boundaries.

I always got the impression from Martin that he loved his family and he would do anything for them.

I also recall he had a fond love for his horses, the other loves of his life.

Martin , I will miss you dearly and
you will forever be in my thoughts.

Thank you for everything. Too few characters like you left in the world.

The world has lost one of the best.

Deepest condolences to all of Martin's family. I had the privilege of sitting across from Martin for the last 8 years. He was a gentleman and a good friend. He always had time for a chat and gave me some great advice over the years. I have missed him this past year and was so saddened to hear that he had passed away. May his family take comfort that Martin was highly thought of in the Finglas Area Office and is missed dearly. May he Rest in Peace.
