A lovely gentleman. I'd regularly meet him while he was out walking with his dog Buddy. I was pleased to be able to say goodbye to him yesterday. May his kind soul rest in peace 🙏

My condolences to Martin's family. Martin volunteered with St Patrick's Credit Union for many years. He gave his time willingly and was respected by all. Martin was a great person.

Martin was a guest friend who made time for everyone. I'll miss him. X

Martin's sister Eva (RIP) and I were married in 1971 and relocated to Cork shortly afterwards. Martin followed us a short time later and stayed for 53 years. When Cork people accept you, it is a friendship for life and this is evident by the number of people who have been in touch with his family to express their sympathy. Martin was not only my brother in law, he was a good friend who will be greatly missed. Belfast's loss was Cork's gain.

I was fortunate to chat with Martin ( and Buddy ) on occasional visits to Sin E .
His warm company , ready - wit and passionate remembrances of Distillery F.C. were refreshing , enjoyable and to be respected .

My heartfelt sympathy and condolences to Martin's partner and family on his passing. Myself and Martin were apprentice Butchers together in the Old Busy Bee Supermarket in Andersonstown in Belfast. Like Martin I left Belfast in 1973 and finished up here in Cork. He was one of the first people I met in Cork City as he worked in the City in a butchery in Blackpool. We would always stop for a chat and his easy manner was one of his great traits. I have called Cork my home now for over 50 years, and I have raised a family here, although seeing Martin always brought back memories of Belfast. Rest in peace Martin, memories never die and it's great that you are a part of mine. God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Martin lived in the flat upstairs when I was a baby on the lower road, and was great friends with my parents. My mother passed away herself on sept 25th, we were trying to get in touch with Martin to tell him. They'll be having a catch up now. Rip Martin, and thoughts to those left behind.
