I am very sorry to learn of Martin's untimely passing.
I had the previlege of knowing Martin briefly during his time at HSI and would meet him occasionally on some of my visits to Naas and at the RDS. He was a guest of honor courtesy of HSI with our organisation the Irish Harness Racing Association on a trip to Vincennes in Paris for the Prix d'Amerique (the richest Trotting race in the world) in or around 2015, whilst he didn't know much about our industry at the beginning he certainly embraced what he saw and made it his business to understand it and was in awe of the sport and the facilities at the Hippodrome Vincennes that weekend. He understood the opportunities that we were chasing to replicate some of this for Ireland.
He was exceptional good company and we thoroughly enjoyed having him on our team, his true passion was in Soccer related matters but such was the man Martin I think he could turn his hand to most things.
Condolence to his family & friends.

it saddens me dearly to hear this news of truely great man, from our days in Germany to last year in Byron Bay (Australia) and to more recently through our WhatsApp chats (him at Cardiff Arms with all the Jones’, only he could have managed to get genuine selfies with most of the Welsh ex Rugby players...) etc. they (and he) will all be forever fondly remembered.
PS the round ball game was a hobby his true passion was Rugby haha.. he was a great little no 9.

Martin was a great colleague at Horse Sport Ireland. He entertained us with his refereeing stories and accounts of his Christmas trips to the Vatican. He was a great team player. While he worked in accounts he managed our stand at the Dublin Horse Show each year and was always in good humour. It was shocking to hear if his passing at such a young age. May he Rest in Peace.

Martin always put 150% into everything he did. As an active memeber of the Kildare/Laois referee branch, then progressing to the league of Ireland panel and finally to the european/international stage to officiate games. His knowledge and experience has helped so many referees progress their refereeing career.
Martin, your positive approach and energy to refereeing and life generally is an example to all of us. You will be greatly missed by all members past and present in the branch. I know I can speak for all that your words of wisdom will always ring loudly in our ears.
Rest in peace Martin. Until we meet again!
