Martin’s family would like to thank all those who sent their condolences to them on this site. We take great comfort from the tributes paid to Martin and how he touched so many lives. 💔
I've just heard the news about Martin's passing and I'm so sad that I didnt know sooner. My sincere condolences. I worked with him a few times over the years and I can honestly say that I don't think we ever finished a day's work without streams of tears of laughter washing down our faces in Martin's company. A truly unique character.
Please accept my warmest condolences. I'm truly sorry for your loss.
Deepest sympathy to the o Malley family on the sad passing of Martin a true gentleman I’m so glad I had the pleasure of getting to know him rest in peace 🙏💕
Sincere Condolences to all of the O’Malley family, particularly his children Jack and Kate, on Martins passing.

Martin signed my SIPTU ticket along with Mickey Walsh in the early 90’s. I had to meet them both in Dockers pub and buy them both a pint before they would sign it! Both those signatures were the gold standard of signatures if you wanted to work in film in Ireland back then.

In the beginning Martin was mildly terrifying to be around, such was his command on set. But very soon you realised how kind he was. How curious he was. How supportive he was. There was always room for a lot of laughter, particularly in the midst of the common chaos on set. He always had your back.

Todays Service was a great reminder of what’s important in life. Thank You. Rest in Peace Martin.

My condolences to Martin's family on their sad loss .

I got to know Martin a bit after he moved to the village of Moynalty.
He was very amiable and soon you realised he had an interesting career in Irish Film. His stories were brilliant and humourous, too many to recall here about working on set of so many well known films. He clearly loved history too and he once boasted " I'm the man to give anyone a tour of Historic Dublin, l know where all the bullet holes are."

It was clear from knowing Martin that he was proud of his work in lrish film, but he was more so a proud father, his kids and indeed other family members were often mentioned with fondness to anyone he spoke with.

He was helpful to me once when our local drama group participated in The All Ireland Drama Festival. Martin lent us costumes and helped backstage too. Thanks Martin for helping us with 'A Galway Girl' by Geraldine Aron.

It was shocking to hear of Martin's death... Good bye Martin.

Rest in peace Martin.

May The Lord Grant you rest.

Martin tried so hard to navigate life peacefully and with fulfilment. It's hard to get it right. Unexpected challenges confront us. Martin had those - they're unique and we face them alone. I recall his bright, twinkling eyes, endless temptation to be funny, warmth, good nature, and sweet sensitivity to all that went on around him. I'm so sorry he's gone. I send my condolences to all who knew him, especially his children, siblings and loved ones.

'Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.

Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble.

Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.

Whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.'

(Max Ehrmann, Abridged, Desiderata)

Deepest condolences to all of Martin's family and friends. He was a true force. I got into the film business in the early 90's when it was just beginning to boom again. Martin was a central part of that and such a charismatic character. I remember watching him as 1st AD on set in Fitzwilliam Square one day, and he commanded everyone from the actors to the camera crew and standbys with such wit and poise and confidence. He epitomised the glamour and mystery of filmmaking. He was also kind to us trainees, and gave of his time generously. He mentored many. Thinking of him conjures up so many memories of happy times in an industry that has changed since those early days. Much sympathy and love to all those who loved him and who will miss him, x Daisy

My deepest condolences to Martin’s family, Martin made life on set pure joy! He always had your back making sure you got your checks before the camera turned and if you happened to be taking 2 he would stall costume checks until you came back without anyone knowing that you had left the set, he was one of a kind, never in bad humour, always happy! He was a true professional and even though I haven’t seen him in years I’ll miss just knowing he’s not around anymore, he was a beautiful human being, rest in peace Martin😓♥️

Martin left a mark on everyone he met. A singularly unique soul. He had his demons. Like we all do. I didn’t like him all of the time. And I think most will agree. He did make us laugh and was a consummate professional when he was working. His last story involves him. Fade to dark. CLEAR THE EYELINES!!! You still owe me a tenner ya gimp!!😄
Rest in peace Martin 🙏 😔

Condolences to all the family
With deepest sympathy to all of Martins family, friends and colleagues. I will always remember him with great fondness, it was an education and a joy to work with him in the film industry over the years. He was a great person and character RIP.
