Martin, Vincent, husband, dad, brother, future father in law, uncle, cousin, nephew, in law. So many names but forever in our hearts he will always be THE BOSS. He always said on meeting Jay, “how’re you boss” but we always knew who the REAL boss was.
A lifetime of knowing him. Jay and he go back a long way. Lots of stories from their teenage years, now precious memories.
Getting advice from him, whether you wanted to hear it or not, but always sound advice with goodwill behind it and your welfare foremost.
We spent a long time going together to mostly Kinsella’s every Saturday night and had many a great night there. I was the designated driver and often had to “book” himself and Jay on the way home when the hurling got heated in the back seat but he never held it against me and he’d tell me the following week I was fully right.
I know if I’d asked him to bring me to Timbuktu on any given day, he’d have dropped everything to get me there, such was the respect he had for us.
I’m so glad we had a long phonecall with him last week, little thinking it would be our last.
Life will not be the same for you all without him but he’s a legend that will never be forgotten and we and our family will talk about him and miss him forever.
Rest easy Boss/Vincent. We wish you and Nora could have had a happy and healthy retirement and many more years of galavanting with us on a Saturday night.

Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand. 🙏

So sorry to hear of Martin's death. So sad for you, Nora and his girls, of whom he always spoke so fondly. Sad that he didn't get to enjoy his retirement, after a long career in social welfare, which went through so many changes during his time. I never knew him as Vincent - he was always 'Martin' in the Loughrea office. May he rest in peace. Our sympathies also to his extended family.
