Martin Walsh

To Martin’s family I offer my deepest sympathy on his passing. I worked with Martin for many years. He was forward thinking, progressive and fair minded. Martin offered helpful encouragement to young people in their career path.
Outside of work Martin’s interests were in the Arts and Music. He introduced me to Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, his favourite Soprano. I introduced him to the music of Albert Ketelbey. Rest in peace Martin.

Sorry to hear of Martin's passing. Not many can say they left their mark as they passed, but Martin certainly could.

I was very saddened to hear of Martin's passing and extend my sincere condolences to Maura and his extended family. Martin was always excellent company, a true gentleman, well read and able to offer insights on a wide range of topics. R.I.P

I knew Martin for the relatively short time I worked in ICC and had great admiration for the reporting systems he designed and managed. He was a great guy, very personable and always very pleasant to deal with. I enjoyed meeting him at the ICC alumni gatherings and golf events. Condolences to all his family and to others who loved him and will miss him.

He is gone too soon. A great companion and proper gentleman, Martin was an unusual and interesting man. He will be sorely missed. He played a big role on our wedding day, he took the photographs!

Very sorry to learn of the death of J. Martin. We had lost contact after ICC but I have many fond memories of the good times we shared in ICC, particulary on the ICC Golf Society Committee and the many great nights representing the ICC Table Quiz team. Martin wouldn't have been great on popular culture but was an invaluable contributor to questions on opera, history and the classics. He won many quizzes for us. Rest in Peace, Martin.

It was with great sadness that I heard of Martin’s passing. I knew him over many years in EBS and always enjoyed his company whenever we met. I only heard recently that he was unwell and spoke with his brother Norman.Martin was an absolute gentleman and I’m glad to have spent time in his company .To Maura ,Rachel,Deborah , Geoffrey and family may all your happy memories of Martin sustain you at this sad and difficult time. We knew Martin was soon for the next world but his sudden passing leaves us in shock and sadness. Martin was so many things, a historian, a classist, a linguist, a rare book collector, a housing policy and finance expert and more. In latter years he was also a Hill Walker, he was a great conversationalist and generally regarded as the Walking Group’s encyclopaedia . He could fill in, for fellow walkers, any gaps left from Leaving Cert Latin or Greek studies or indeed any other subject. Martin was a successful and highly appreciated executive and senior manager in ICC BANK and later in EBS BUILDING SOCIETY where he served as General Manager. Above all that Martin was a loving husband, dad, and grandad.
Our deepest sympathy goes to Maura, Rachel, Deborah, Geoffrey and his beloved grandchildren.

We were all deeply saddened to hear this evening that Martin passed-away this morning, for all that we knew that He had been unwell for a considerable time.
Many of us knew Martin from Scoil Ui Chonaill 1956, when, we joined Rang 2A, and, together, progressed to our Leaving Certificate Year of 1966 : throughout those years, Martin was one of the best & brightest, frequently helping me out over the Phone with Homework, from his Raheny Home.And he was an extremely loyal & entertaining Supporter of our various Class Reunions.
