I was saddened to hear of your mum’s passing. I have such great memories of Orwell Rd, I can’t count the amount of sleepovers I had, your parents were so welcoming and I use to love being there with all of you and your cousins. I loved your mum’s cooking her curry with all the toppings, it was in her kitchen that I had tabbouleh for the first time even to this day it reminds me of her. I also remember loving the smell of your dad’s coffee. She introduced me to so many different foods that were not common in Ireland back then.
I will never forget her, a beautiful lady inside and out,

We were so sad when we heard that dear Mary had passed away and we would like to offer our sympathy to Mo Irene and Alan. Now my prayers can stop for Mary as she is resting and enjoying her time with Kibon, Aidy and her darling grandaughter Natalie.. So sad for you all as your parents were such a wonderful couple, so kind and beautiful they will never be forgotten.

Many happy memories of Mary & Kibon when they lived on Orwell Road , their kindness to me at that time will never be forgotten. Today’s funeral was beautiful as was Irene’s eulogy the music & the readings. A fitting service for a lady who touched the lives of many in such a positive way.Condolences to the family.

Alan & Regine, Mo & Irene, I was so sad to hear of your beautiful mom’s passing. Although I haven’t seen her in decades I have nothing but the best memories of her. I was a 16 year old American spending the summer in Ireland back in 1982. When I made plans to meet my dad’s Irish cousin I envisioned an uptight old lady in a tweed suit and lace mantilla with rosary beads in hand. Imagine my surprise when your thoroughly modern, fashionable and boisterous mom popped out to greet me instead! She was so welcoming, warm hearted and funny! She immediately took me under her wing, sharing family stories and making fabulous food (a real treat and opposite of my mom, also named Mary Neylon, who was the world’s worst cook!). I loved getting to know her that summer and then returning 4 years later as a college student when I brought a group of friends over to Ireland for some fun. I loved her style and the way she made me feel like real family. Although we kept in touch for many years, eventually my grown up life, work and motherhood got in the way of future visits. I really wish I had gotten to see her again, am glad Alan & I stay connected and retain a family bond. Much love to you all as you celebrate “cool Aunt Mary’s” life this week.
