When Norma, who still lives in Clonmel, sent a text saying Mary Burke had died it didn t click immediately who Mary was.. it is probably 65 to 70 yrs since we lived across the road from each other..Strangely, only a week or two ago I was telling a friend how a neighbour Cathy Burke had made, out of green crepe paper, cloaks so that we could pretend we were THE SILENT THREE..girls from our beloved SCHOOL FRIEND weekly comic... .maybe this is not the right format to tell you this but it is a v fond memory for me.

Sincere sympathy to the Burke family on the passing of Mary. She was a member of our “Aqua Cappuccino Chicks” - a small group of friends who met twice a week to go to an aqua aerobics class at Rathmines and go for coffee and a chat afterwards . I have lovely memories of Mary regaling us with stories of funny incidents which occurred during the course of her long nursing career. She always spoke about her patients with respect and fondness.
