I am very sorry to hear of Mary's passing. My sincere sympathy to each of her family. I knew her from meeting her playing bridge in Malahide Regional.

Passing through Dublin, without my Dear Aunty Mary there rushing to see me, is like walking through a withered garden where flowers once grew. Of the many wonderful memories I have of my childhood in Cork, she is smiling, or reading to me, or encouraging and helping me down any route in which I showed an interest. She always had a book for me and if I had to write the book of her life, the words would be too sweet for any alphabet that I could dream up. She gave, as the poet said, so many “gifts of the mind”, that it is impossible to number or list them. She left us with so many lost stories about our late father, Noel, and so many memories of Cork in her childhood and Dublin in her adult life, that at times, I feel like we were there with her, in youth. We all miss her so much and know that her memory will stay with us, into old age. My deepest sympathies to her loving family in Dublin, Áine, Cathal, Sinéad and Daniel.

She served on numerous committees and was Lady Captain in 1992. She was helpful, approachable and encouraging, especially to new members. She had a depth of knowledge and wisdom, and a great sense of humour. Her many friends are deeply saddened at her passing. I will always remember and appreciate Mary's encouragement, advice and support.

It’s hard to find the words to say about my dear Aunty Mary. She was always interested and interesting. She could talk about any topic and loved a debate. She loved to travel and to hear about our travels , we could talk on end about that. I loved talking about times past with her, she would tell us stories about her parents and my late dad. She was a lady, I enjoyed her company so much and I will miss her dearly. Deepest condolences to Áine, Cathal, Sinéad and Daniel, you brought so much joy to her life.

Áine, Sinead, Cathal and family, I'm struggling to find words to express how much I will miss such a wonderful friend. No matter where we met, be it at lunch, on the golf course in Donabate, in the village for a coffee, at mass or just a call to catch up, Mary's innate fun, compassion and kindness to all of us and especially her adored family was always to the fore.
