I was very saddened to hear of the passing of my teacher Mrs Corr. She was my teacher in Holy Cross School for three years in 4th, 5th and 6th class in the early 1980s. (I see some names of my dear classmates below.)
I remember her gracefulness, her prayer and faith, her devotion to Mother Theresa, her discipline and her dedication. I thrived in her class. Mrs Corr was a significant person in my life as a child.
In 2017 after thinking about her over the years I called to see Mrs Corr at her home. We spoke for some hours, reminiscing. I showed her my cherished plaque she had presented to me as a momento of my time as Taoiseach in the Class Cabinet 1983. We talked about life and what it is to be middle aged and older. We spoke about her losing her daughter, her dear husband, about her travels, her daughters, her experiences and challenges as a teacher. To speak to her as adult to adult was surreal, a privilege and a revelation. I learnt that she was was adventurous, innovative and pushed boundaries. It was lovely and it was emotional. I shed a tear as I left her house that day.
Thank you Mrs Corr for being a wonderful teacher. God bless.

My sincere condolences to all of Mary's (Mrs Corr to me) family. Mrs Corr was my teacher for 3 years in Holy Cross in the early 1980s. Very fond memories of her classes and her love for Mother Teresa which she instilled in us. A calm and creative class. I will always remember we elected a school Dáil and had the privilege of visiting Áras an Uachtaráin where we all stood proudly with Mrs Corr, Mrs Furlong and Dr Hilary. RIP Mrs Corr
My sincerest condolences to Mary’s family. I had the absolute pleasure to have her as my teacher and mentor for 5th & 6th class in Holy Cross. She was such a fair, considerate and compassionate teacher. Mrs Corr will always stand out in my memory for her work to promote the work of Mother Theresa. Will always have fond memories of my time in school with her x

Many years ago I was privileged to be a student teacher in Mary's 6th Class in Holy Cross. The experience was transformative for me; Mary's classroom was such a lovely place to be and I learned so much for her. She was an incredibly supportive mentor teacher.
Please accept my condolences on her passing; may your memories of her support you in the years ahead.

To Susan, Una & family my condolences on the death of your mother. As a teenager who moved back to Dublin from London in 1967 I remember her kindness as a neighbour to my grandmother Elizabeth at Conabury (named after the Smyth house in Castleblayney) in Kilmacud Road Upper where my late mother & two younger brothers stayed that year & went to Dundrum national school where there were more Monaghan connections! On behalf of the drama in education community in Trinity College and much further afield, I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Una, Susan and all of Mary's extended family members and many friends. It is hard to put into writing the extent of Mary's influence in the field of drama in education. She was an inspiration to so many teachers, student teachers and children - a real powerhouse for instigating change in classrooms in Ireland. Her transformative ideas fuelled DramaLive and subsequently the Association for Drama in Education in Ireland (ADEI) of which she was a co-founder. Blessed with a keen intellect, an abundance of creativity, and always driven always by human values and compassion for others, her guiding influence is still strongly felt amongst the drama in education community throughout the island of Ireland. As one of the 3 influential and well known 'Mary's' who shaped drama in education, nationally and internationally, we fondly remember Mary Corr and her late husband Edwin, and grieve at her passing. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.
My sincere sympathies and love go out to Una and Susan and the whole family.
