Gay, Elizabeth and family, sincere sympathy on the passing of Mary. I looked forward to going to Baldoyle when she had the shop there, and am still using the last racquet she sold me. I relied on her to restring the Killoughey racquets, since there was little racquet stringing going on in Offaly. Baldoyle was never the same once Mary, and you Elizabeth, left the shop. I'm sure that more than me missed seeing her cheerful self when we were in Baldoyle. May she rest in peace.
Gay, Elizabeth, Paul, Mark and Bernard... Mary was such a great character!! It's so hard to believe she's no longer with us. My abiding memories bring me to many hours of chat, smoking and the obligatory medicinal brandy...such fun and great craic. What a privilege to have known her!!! Sincere condolences to you all. X

Thinking of you all at this sad time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.
Gay and Elizabeth, I was so very sorry to hear of Mary’s passing. She was a great character in the badminton world. She devoted so much time to helping the younger generation. When that was me, I learned so much from her and recall the trips she took us on were always serious but great fun. Later, when it was my own children starting badminton in Baldoyle there was always much encouragement and they looked up to her. I know that Mum and Dad also always held her in very high regard.

I wish you and all the family much strength for the days and weeks to come.

My sincere condolences to Gay and Elizabeth on Mary’s passing.
I first met Mary many years ago when she came to coach us at my local club in Whitehall. We were both excited, and nervous, anticipating the arrival of "Mary Dinan." It was an unforgettable experience to receive her expert coaching, and we reminisced about those days for many years.
Mary had a unique coaching style, and she brought out the best in each of us. Her humour, and the nicknames she created for us, brought laughter and memories that we cherished long after.
Over the years, I met Mary very often in Baldoyle BC and various badminton halls, and she always greeted me with her warm smile and friendly hello.
She was not only incredibly popular, but also a wonderful ambassador for the sport.
RIP Mary xx

I am so deeply saddened to hear of Mary’s passing. She was such an incredible character and her presence will be so missed in the badminton community. I fondly remember those Sunday evening training sessions with her, full of energy and laughter. Even now, I can still hear her voice, calling out, “Get your racket up!” Mary would work with any level of player and make them better after a session. My thoughts are with her family and everyone who was lucky enough to know her.

Auntie Mary
A life well lived.
Mary was the centre of a loving family who were always there for each other. She will be greatly missed by both her family and friends. A loving Auntie who would tickle you until you cried, tell stories to make you laugh, and go out of her way to help you.
Deepest sympathies to Gay, Elizabeth, Bernard, Mark, Paul and extended family.
Mary had such a positive impact on all our lives. She coached me as a kid in Valcar BC, as an adult in Baldoyle BC and our two girls in Phoenix Jr. Only last season our youngest was on top of the world - Mary had taken the U13s team for coaching and had taught her how to short serve 'properly'! That she was coaching our Phoenix kids, who loved and respected her so much, until last April is a testament to her lifelong commitment to sport and volunteerism. Though a tough coach Mary was fair, but also fun and full of devilment. She took great pleasure dishing out forfeits courtside, and truthfully we all loved it too. She was fiercely proud of her family and her biggest smile would always appear when talking about Mark and Paul.
Our sincere condolences to you all; Gay, Elizabeth, Bernard, Mark and Paul. May your happy memories of Mary keep you strong in the days ahead. We are forever grateful for the part she played in our lives.
Kate, Dan, Meabh and Orlaith O'Grady.
