My sympathy to the McKenna family on the death of Mrs. McKenna. She was one of the people I remember welll from my childhood in Ballinasloe. Herself and her late husband Paddy ran a Grocery Shop on Dunlo Street between Grenham's Garage and the Cosy Bar, all gone now! But memories of the people we knew and whose kindness we experienced remain as cheriched memories. I can still see Mrs McKenna in the pictures of my memory walking down the hill to Mass in St. Michael's. She was a lovely lady, may God reward her for her goodness and may you find consolation in your sadness at the loss of your mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. No matter how long life is, saying goodbye is always painful.
I am sorry I missed her funeral but I only heard of her death on Saturday afternoon. I will offer Mass for her and for the family.
