I was so saddened to hear of Mary’s passing. I have so many fond memories of her calling into number 32 from number 30. She’d often call in for a chat in the evenings and I always enjoyed her company. She had a real flair for telling a joke, she often had us all in stitches in the kitchen, even the most innocent of jokes were told with great comedic effect and delivery…some of them weren’t so innocent either! We’d often see her nipping around in her little blue Nissan Micra, full of energy and life. She adored her grandchildren, I remember when the movie Madagascar came out in the cinema and how impressed she was that her baby granddaughter Grace could pronounce the word so clearly!

Thank you Mary, for so many lovely memories. I hope you are at peace now xx

Shocked to learn of the death of Mary. We met most Fridays in the Petit Paris cafe when we went there for lunch herself and Pat would be there.
We had many a laugh and usually herself and Pat were either going or had been to Spain or Portugal. She was such a lovely person full of life. We are thinking of you all her family especially Pat at this sad time. Marie & Liam

My deepest condolences to the Riordan and Downes families. Mary Ita and I went to school together and were very good Friends. I came to the US in 1971 and we lost touch. We reconnected several years ago and she and Pat and her sisters visited me at my home in New Jersey and we got together in Ireland. We picked up where we left off all those years ago like no time had passed. The news of her death has truly shocked me and my heart goes out to her family. RIP Mary Ita.
