Dear Peter and family. I was deeply saddened to hear of the death of Aunty Mary. It was perhaps particularly poignant given my own similar and recent bereavement. Unfortunately Peter, I am able to sympathise.

There was something special about Aunty Mary. I can't describe what it was but judging by the number of messages many many people feel as i do.

Mary was a treasured and loyal friend of my late Mother (also Mary), having met many years ago during their time nursing together at Rushmore nursing home. Over the years they had many laughs on their nights out or meeting for coffee.
Mary was such a wonderful, kind , and thoughtful lady, and always made such an effort to keep in touch even after my Mother came to live with me in London. And after my Mother passed, I’d still always get a message from Mary at Christmas, Easter and for St Patrick’s Day. I’m so pleased that I managed to meet up with Mary last Christmas when I was home.
She was such a special person, and I know you will all be heartbroken.
May Mary Rest in Peace🙏

It was so devastating to hear of Mary’s sudden passing and know you are all in my thoughts and prayers at what I know is a heartbreaking time.

Mary was such a lovely lady, always kind and thoughtful. She regularly called in to see how we were doing and her support during Mam’s later years meant more than words can say. She had a wonderful way of making everyone feel cared for and connected.

We were so lucky to have her as our neighbour and friend, and it’s hard to imagine the place without her. Whether it was her heading out for her daily walk or herself and Peter coming and going in their car, she was part of the daily rhythm of the row. Her unexpected loss will take its toll, and she will be greatly missed, but she will always be remembered with immense fondness for her generosity of time and her warm, kind nature. I’ll forever be grateful for having known her.

Like so many I was heartbroken to hear of Mary’s sudden passing. Please accept my sincerest condolences to you Peter and your lovely family during this devastating time.

Mary was such a wonderful person - kind, gentle and always so warm and full of conversation. Over the years, she was a huge support to us, especially with my Mary during her final years, often stepping in to help when we had no one else. Her kindness and generosity will never be forgotten.

She truly was the heart of our row, the one constant who kept in touch with everyone and brought a sense of connection to our little neighbourhood. Her absence will be deeply felt, and she will be sorely missed by me and my family.

Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers and we’re here for you if there’s anything you need.

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Aunty Mary. I have such lovely memories of childhood holidays in Carnmore with all of you. Your Mum had such a gift for making everyone feel welcome.

The ceremony which I watched here was beautiful and so personal — it really captured her spirit. Anna’s words were incredibly touching, and Fiona’s reflection was so moving and full of love. It was a wonderful tribute to a person who was so special to you all.

She’ll be dearly missed, but I’ll always remember her with great affection.

A constant conduit within the wider family, helping those of us living abroad to keep in touch with what was happening in Ireland.
