I have just watched the funeral of my old and dear friend Mary. I am abroad at the minute and am so sorry that I couldn't be there in person. I was only talking about Mary at Christmas with friends recalling our trips to Donegal and the many fond memories I had of Mary as we toured the country, sometimes on holiday, sometimes for camogie matches in obscure places. I particularly remember her visiting me in Croatia where we had lots of red wine and lots of Craic. I was completely in awe of Mary and admired her bravery as she battled illness a few years ago and how she rose to the challenge with dignity and resilience. We enjoyed many sing songs together which will be my enduring memory. May you rest in peace dear Mary lots of love

So sorry to hear of the passing of Mary. She will always be remembered as an outstanding Kilkenny Camogie player but perhaps more importantly as a driver of Kilkenny Camogie which led to so many successes for our County. Well done Mary. I want to convey the sympathies of the whole school community here at Loreto to Mary's family and friends during this sad time. Camogie is very much part of the fabric of our school and as such we are conscious of the debt we owe to the legends of the game. Mary was a true legend and has done so much to raise the standard and profile of Camogie. She has inspired so many over the years, we are truly grateful for her talent and love of the game. May she rest in peace.
