Sincere condolences to the extended Finucane families on the sad passing of Mary. My aunt Elizabeth Leahy worked with Mary and so I got to know both Mary and her Mom Delia. Mary was a very kind and formidable Lady. It was an honour and a pleasure to have known her. May Mary Rest In Peace.

I am so sorry I only just this evening saw her death notice. Mary was a force for good and leadership in the world of nursing. I knew her particularly in the Faculty of Nursing in RCSI.

When the book about her brothers was being launched jn O'Mahony's book store she very kindly gave me a copybof the book plus an invitation to the launch. After she left i had no more contzct until i was visiting another member who was in Castletroy Nursling home. Then i heard she had transferred to another Nursing home so had no more contact but her kindness has always stayed with me. Rest in pesce Mry.

May I offer our sincere sympaties to Patsy, Joe, Nieces and Nephews of Mary. Mary was such an inspiration to me and many other public health nurses. She left no stone unturned and her management skills were exemplary. She was so accomodating to us Concern volunteers too especially in times of crises.
Mary loved her family and loved her garden and flowers and her card games too. May she now rest in peace and unite with her family who have gone before her.

To Marys family please accept our heartfelt condolences on her passing. A beautiful kind caring person who was a great friend to our late parents Maura and Paddy. We loved when Mary came to visit our house. We have many fond childhood memories of Mary. She was always so kind and engaging to us . Treats a plenty. And plenty of kids appreciative of her generous nature. An obvious choice for Mary destined for a nursing vocation. I particularly enjoyed visiting Mary and her mam in Sherbourne Rd. The red carpet and treats were out. Maura would take one or two of us on the bus or bicycle to visit. Mary would visit us on the special occasions also Christmas etc and again a bonanza for us kids. Paddy had emigrated to Newfoundland in the early 50's. He returned to Ireland to reunite with his love Maura and both returned to Newfoundland where they married in May 1952. Mary had travelled not too long after to Toronto to pursue her career. No Ryanair in those days so it was quiet an ordeal to travel so far from family and friends. They had a lot in common and maintained their strong relationship when the heartstrings were pulled and they were lucky enough to return to their home city which they loved. Canada always a talking point for them.We were privileged to have know Mary and to have her part of our lives. No doubt they are reminiscing about their great adventures in 🇨🇦.
RIP Mary you were one of a kind.

I was sorry to learn of the death of Mary Finucane. She was a leader in every sense of the word strong capable and caring. In her total dedication to her Nursing profession she embodied public service ethos in every aspect of her work. A kind caring lady. Rest in Peace Mary.
