Dear Forde family, my beloved Irish family,

I was deeply saddened to hear of Mary's passing. You all know how much she meant to me. From the moment I met her over 30 years ago, I felt the warmth of her kindness and the way she treated me as a daughter made me feel instantly part of the family. Through Mary, I gained another family in Irish lands that felt wonderfully similar to my Spanish family - different cultures and languages, yet hearts that beat in harmony. I am truly grateful to God for placing Mary in my life. That special bond will remain with me forever. She helped me call Cork my other home. The memories of her, of her wonderful cooking, and of those tea times with her friends in Montrose, filled with so much laughter, will stay in my heart forever. She was always so devoted to her family and so proud of her husband, daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren! I just loved those summer picnics in Togher with so many children all over the place! And Shaun's drums music in the background... Marian's love of picnics, despite the changeable Irish weather, made me laugh...

I cannot thank Mary and Shaun enough for welcoming me into their family and giving me a sense of belonging that crossed oceans. Thanks to them, I have 4 more sisters and lots of nephews and nieces! May you all find comfort in the love she shared with you all and in the memories you hold close. With heartfelt sympathy,

What a great loss but what wonderful memories Mary (and Shaun) have left us all. Wonderful, caring, hospitable people full of kindness and love. We lived next door to them here in Greenwood for thirty years and we know at first hand how exceptionally generous they both were. We send our sympathy and love to all of their extended family.
