Mary Forde
(née Igoe)

Mary and Matt were friends from the Pelham Country Club in Pelham, New York. Mary was a wonderful golfer. I can't recall how many holes-in-one she had but I know the number exceeded 5. Mary and Matt fed the homeless in NYC every single week and their kindness helped make the lives of the less fortunate better in so many ways. May God bless them. They are missed.

It is with great sadness that I write a condolence on your dear mam's death so soon after your dads. They were legends, as you know - always ready to help. Thank you both for all the good deeds. Clondra benefitted from your presence. Ar scath a cheile a mhaireann na daoine.

You gave your mother a befitting send off with lovely words on her life, songs and music - she would have been very proud of you all today. I will miss her. Glad I gave her the book on the Dance Halls of Longford and the Killoe graveyard booklet. She loved Killoe and never tired talking about her family and roots there.

The musicians at the Teach Ceol played "When you were sweet sixteen" for Matt on Sept 1st. My plan was to bring Mary so that she could enjoy the good music, but that was not to be.

Goodbye my friend - rest in peace Mary - free from the pain of this world - you have earned your eternal reward. It was a privilege to have known you.
