Deepest sympathy to the Gallagher, Murphy and Garvey families. Mary was such a warm and kind woman. Her knowledge and learning was framed in erudition and wit. Her letters to the papers were thought provoking and influential but to us the characteristics that most marked her were her humility and love of every man woman and child.

John, Joe, Mal and Mike I am heartbroken for you all. Your mam is one in a million. For all us Ballagh heads she was one of those constants and will be so missed. Any time any of us hear a good turn of phrase, see a splash of colour walking down a street, any time we’re trying to figure out the best way forward she will jump straight to mind. A truly unique and inspiring woman that will be so missed but never ever forgotten.
