I remember with great fondness meeting your Mam at The Grange and what a powerful, stylish woman she was. Eloquent and astute, it was no surprise when you told me of her work in politics and how much the Labour party meant to herself and your Dad. And there was - like so many Irish women of the same generation - a strength of character that I'm sure helped immeasurably upon your Dad's passing.

My contact with Mary was but a brief one as I bought her house in Deansgrange when she decided to move to Nenagh after the loss of her beloved Sean. She was a lovely and kind lady and may her gentle soul rest in peace. My condolences to all her relatives and friends.
