My sincere condolences to Carol and all of Cathleen's loved ones on your sad loss. Cathleen was a special person who made a wonderful impact on so many lives. A great teacher who welcomed all her past pupils even long after school days. She had great interest in her native village and a terrific memory for people. Always a warm welcoming smile and delicious refreshments especially when the baking was fresh out of the oven. Thank you Cathleen especially for your wonderful stories of our parents and grandparents from before we arrived our were too young to remember. You were a real treasure and will always be fondly remembered.

Thinking of all the family at this sad time, Mrs Dowling was a wonderful lady and excellent teacher, she will never be forgotten by many rest in peace Mrs Dowling, may God be with your family.

I was saddened to hear of the death of such a kind neighbour Cathleen Dowling. I have pleasant memories of dropping in next door for chats with both Joe and Cathleen.

I feel very sad that we have all lost a sincere friend and a professional and dedicated teacher, Mrs Dowling.
My experiences of her are of an elegant, reliable, devoted and extremely interesting person who wanted her students to learn - one of her saying, “Mr do be and don’t be are dead’! She was also a true confidante. Above all, however, Mrs Dowling was an historian of Castletown lives and the Turley family listened with interest as she recalled much of our family history, going back to Granny. We will all miss her. My sincere condolences go to her family. May she R.I.P.

My sympathies to Carol, Susie, Patricia , Tom & your families on Cathleens passing..The best memories from 8 years in Castletown primary school with Mrs Dowling as principal..we benefited from her brilliant teaching ability, her interest in the extra curricular- knitting, crochet, sewing ,bottle lamps decorated with seashells she brought from Tramore, tray cloths hand stitched with fine threads - whitened & starched - made from flour sacks; she had endless ideas for craft class..
She had respect for & interest in her pupils. always time for a chat whenever we met..
May she be rewarded in heaven & enjoy eternal peace..

It was with great sadness that we heard of the passing of Mrs Dowling. We would like to extend our sincere sympathy to the extended Marnell and Dowling families and also to all whose lives were touched by Cathleen throughout her teaching career. I was fortunate to work with her in my early career and to see at first hand her dedication to the pupils and her outstanding teaching ability. It certainly helped me when I was chosen as her successor.I always felt that I could call on Cathleen for advice and that I had a listening ear. May she rest in peace now with her beloved Joe.
