I have such fond memories of Mary looking after myself and my brothers when we were children, collecting us from school and making rounds of toast while she offered an ear for our complaints about our school days, always telling us "these are the best days of your life". I am indebted to Mary for always offering exceptional advice and for the kindness and compassion which she always showed to me and our family. She was truly a rare gem. May she rest in eternal peace.

Manus, Marina,Clodagh and Declan and all the extended family, I am so sad to hear your lovely Mary has passed on. She was the most positive, kindest person I ever met. Fondest memories in 2012 and our Conaghan reunion on Arranmore Island. It was a blessing to have known her and an honour to have been related. Rest in Peace Mary x

Mary and Manus opened their home to us 6 American chatty women in 2000 as we were celebrating our 50th birthdays. She had the most welcoming loving personality that it was as if we knew her all our lives. She found out all about each of us and our families too. We toured the countryside and Mary and Manus’s suggestions were invaluable to us.
Dancing and meeting the locals in the pubs with their many introductions just made the trip that much more meaningful for us. Mary gave us the nickname “the Babes” and the townfolk soon came to recognize us. As true to her loving nature she kept in close contact with one of the Babes in our group . Kiltimagh, county Mayo and Ireland will not be the same
