Alison & Sharon, I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of your beloved mother, and my wonderful aunt, Mary. I was very sorry that I was unable to attend the service. Please accept my heartfelt condolences.

I will always remember Mary’s warmth, wit, and unwavering positivity. Every visit with her was characterized by her clever, light-hearted humor and her talent for making everyone feel comfortable.

More broadly, Mary’s contribution to cancer research cannot be overlooked. During a time in the early 1980s when the disease was often deadly, she confronted it directly and won. In doing so, she became part of a generation that helped mark a pivotal medical shift from hopelessness to hope—a living example that the tide could be turned. That is her quiet contribution to the progress that will benefit everyone in the future.

As you mourn her loss, I hope you find comfort in knowing that she leaves behind a legacy of hope that all her family can take pride in.

Aunt Mary was a wonderful person to know, and I will never forget her kindness to myself and my mother, Alice. She is an inspiration to us all and had a unique talent to make all those in her presence feel calm and at peace. She will be missed so very much.

I was extremely fond of Mary. She was a very gentle, caring, helpful and calm lady who loved life. It was lovely to hear childhood stories about her beautiful Barnauraun home. I always remarked on her elegant handwriting. She was greatly respected by all her knew her.
