I’m so sorry to hear of Mary’s sudden death. I enjoyed so many laughs with her over painting sessions at Ballinglen Art Foundation and the pub, singing, chatting about all things arty. I found In her a kindred spirit on those art trips. She was a lovely lovely person with a grand sense of humour and so kind and generous. . I can hear her gravelly voice. I have a painting of Mary’s here at home which I treasure. My visits to Mayo will never be the same. Deepest sympathies to the family.

Gone far too early, but your journeys work is done and you have sailed your final trip. Last time I was in Achill, a few years back , I called to Mary and she brought me around telling me stories about buildings, archaeology and those who we both knew. I recall a trip to the graveyard there to visit a women who spent much of her life here. The stories about her that day were priceless and I regard that as a very special day . Will always have great memories of those bright sparkling eyes as they lit up with fun and laughter. Rest now Mary , your work here is done.love always The other Mary Lavelle

My condolences to Mary ‘s son Eoghan and her family on her sad passing. Today I’ve been thinking of the day maybe 5/6 years ago when I brought Dad, Austin Moran, to Achill for what he knew would be his last visit. He d worked there in the 40’s and had great memories of lively times spent with Ted. Mary whom I knew from UB, met us for a hilarious trip down memory lane. It was a precious day. Mary, you were a beautiful lady and have left far too early. May you rest in peace.
