Mary was an exceptional lady. The Lee family was blessed by her presence with Gary at its centre and head. Mary had dignity, grace and character-depth that she will forever be fondly remembered for. She will always be in our prayers.

I had the pleasure of playing golf with Mary several times over the years and always enjoyed her company. I admired her competitive spirit and her determination to be the very best at everything she did. She was a strong, focused woman who was immensely proud of her family.

One of my favourite memories of Mary was meeting her at the Ballycotton 10—the only time I ever attempted it. I met her just before the race, and she asked what time I expected to run. I said around 100 minutes. Mary didn’t say a word, but her expression said everything: “Surely you can run faster than that!” It still makes me smile when I think of it.
