So sad to hear of the passing of lovely Maura.
I met Maura through my sister Ann ( friend and neighbor of Maura)
On my trips home from the States , I loved my visits to New Road. Especially enjoyed meeting Maura , she was witty and lots of fun.

Deepest sympathy to PJ and the extended Ruane family on the sad passing of Maura. She was the loveliest woman and I looked forward to bumping into her in town or on New Road on my way to and from work. She was a great conversationalist, warm, witty, and engaging. There was a touch of class and elegance about her and she had the most fabulous complexion. We had lots of laughs about how to remain wrinkle-free. Maura definitely achieved that! I was passing her house a few days ago and was thinking how much I missed not seeing her at the door and having a chat about the cats, style, and the stretch in the evenings. She always asked about my children and I think our very first encounter was years ago when she stopped me on the street to inquire how I was after I was widowed. I didn’t know her then and was touched by her kindness and care. A light has gone out on New Road with her passing. Everyone whose life she touched with her charm and loveliness will miss her greatly.

Mor Mor what can I say about you

You were the most, kind, generous, witty person and just a little stubborn when it was something you didn’t want to do. A true lady and a character to all who knew you. You have left us with a lifetime of wonderful memories. You were like a nan to me growing up and looked after us so well when we were little. We will miss you so so much, our trips to Ireland won’t be the same.
Have a party up there with Dad. Rest well.

Our sincere sympathy to PJ & family Dear Maura Rest in Peace

Maura welcomed me with open arms when I had moved to Ireland and introduced me to the whole neighborhood. She was curious, sharp, full of stories about her time in England, how it was for her to return to an Ireland that had changed so much but yet so little as she came back to the same street with many of her childhood friends still around, now all aged. She was a social butterfly, easily made friends with everybody - when she had to leave a hospital ward, people in the beds around her were sad to see her go and stayed in touch. I also made friends through her - she connected to many people with each other and never forgot anything you told her, suddenly asking you something about it 2 years later. She also was a free spirit and could be infuriatingly stubborn, telling paramedics "just because I can't move I don't loose my human rights to send you home if I want" - demanding respect at all times. I learned so much from her, and will miss her terribly.
