I am really sorry I could not pay my respects. Mary was the heartbeat of the NIHED School of Business Admin when I joined in 1982. She had an enormous spread of responsibilities which she discharged fearlessly and with good humour (unless someone unwisely crossed her). She alone knew how the institution really worked, and who to talk to about any practical issue. She followed politics closely, being a true and vocal Fine Gaeler while moderately tolerant of other peoples' leanings.
In personal matters she was very kind, and wise in advice to us young colleagues (this was forty years ago!). She was above all proud as hell of her two Sams, Tony, Bernard and her granddaughter.
I offer my sincere condolences to her family, neighbours and friends.

Ah guys… sorry to have heard the sad news. Still remember the day watching her sit up in the ambulance bed leaving the house for last time .. so many good memories of her crossing the road to come in for a chat and a wise word …. A gem so she was.
