Dear John, Mary Ruth, Brian & Stephen it was indeed with great sadness that we learnt of the passing of your dear Mum, Mary. We all had a tremendous fondness for her going back all those years ago when she had the job of minding & entertaining the Juniors of Monkstown Tennis Club.. - which included the four of us....and boy was she a special person. To this day both the parents, & families under Mary's care, remember those wonderful summers. She also enjoyed playing tennis herself & was no mean player.

There is not one member who spent their youth in the Monkstown Tennis Club who didn’t know Mary. Mary was our summer supervisor for many years where she became everyone's second mammy for the summer. She managed the tennis programme, the juniors and all the events in the club in her own inimitable way, taking everything in her stride! In those days Mary might well have been seen supervising the children from morning to night when many a young person simply forgot to go home!
Mary also enjoyed her own regular tennis games with the ladies playing in ladies morning, on a Saturday and through the week always with the cuppa and chat afterwards.
On behalf of all the members we offer our deepest condolences to Brian our former coach, to John, Mary Ruth, and Stephen and all the Mc Daid family at this time.

Mary was so loved at Monkstown Tennis Club. She somehow managed to keep all the unruly kids happy and playing tennis, most of the time! Our family loved her and the parents admired her quiet diplomacy. A true lady. Condolences to Brian and all the McDaid family.
