While I don't know your mom I feel such a closeness to any one who came from woods ,
My grandmother ,Mary Lavin ,came from woods , and her brother Charlie lavin and Nora gallagher both moved to Kildare , may Mary rest in peace , thinking of you all at this sad and difficult time .

It is hard to put into words the gratitude I feel for you Mary. Throughout my childhood, I had the privilege of observing your very close friendship with Mammy. You were more than just neighbours, you were close confidantes, best friends and had what I could only describe as a steady presence in each others lives, through good times and bad.

Throughout my childhood, I enjoyed hearing you laugh together, overhearing stories
about countless games of cards and nights out.

You visited mam, many times, each week during her cancer treatment, sat with her, conforted her and stayed by her side right until the end. Your friendship and loyalty never faded.

I will never forget that it was you, the first person to embrace me after I heard the news of her passing, wrapping me in your warmth when I needed it most. It meant so much more than words ever could.

Even after all those years, your kindness never waivered receiving that beautiful card and letter in the post after my engagement to Eoin. You knew the losses both of us had faced and you were so genuinely happy that we had found each other.

I know how devastating it was for you losing two of your closest friends just four years apart in 1990 and 1994. I now take confort knowing that you are reunited with Mammy and Breda. I imagine the three of you, thick as thieves, mid conversation with a shuffled deck of cards in your hands. Together again.
