My sincere sympathies to Sean and all the O'Gorman families on the passing of your beloved Mary.I worked with Mary in the Holy Family Junior School for 21 years and have many happy memories of her.Mary was the first person I met when I dropped in a CV all those years ago. She immediately made me feel at ease. She was kind and motherly to us all. Mary was a lady. She was the welcoming face of the HFJS for many years. She was a great story teller and she was always very knowledgeable on current affairs. She loved her family and always spoke highly of them. May she rest in peace.

Deepest and sincerest condolences to Seán, Deirdre, Brian, Antoinette, Claire, Cathal and the extended O’Gorman and Shanahan families on the passing of your beloved Mary. Mary was a much respected and valued member of the staff of Holy Family Junior School. She began as supervisor of the Fás scheme, warmly remembered for her efficiency and caring nature. When the scheme finished, she was appointed as our school secretary.
Mary attended mass every day, then crossed the road to school where she was first in each morning. She rarely missed a day in all her years in HFJS. Her dependability, calm demeanour and innate kindness served as a great example to us all. As secretary, she was central to the daily activities of our busy school, no day ever the same. Pupils loved to chat with Mary at her desk or on the corridor, staff trusted her discretion and professionalism and parents knew that they had a listening ear when they called into reception. Visitors were warmly welcomed to our school and were treated with kindness and respect.
Mary was a very proud Tipperary woman and she often regaled us with stories of her happy childhood in Templemore. She also spoke fondly of her early married years in Cork before moving to her beloved Seán’s home town of Ennis. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, her family meant everything to her.
We are grateful for her time with us and her dedication and loyalty to HFJS will never be forgotten.
