Hearing of my grandmother's passing from overseas came with deep grievances. In the short time that we spent together, I gathered a deep appreciation for the important role she has played in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Although she wasn't able to meet my daughter Sloane (12 months old) or her newest great granddaughter expected to be arriving in 7 weeks, we know that she would have made a positive impact on their lives and lasting impression in their hearts. Amy was and always will be very loved by her family and friends. She has accomplished so much in her lifetime and has given life to all those after her. Rest in peace, nana.

The Bed of Heaven to Mamie. I just this minute saw the notice and the Mass is now over. Mamie (Mannion) was reared in St. Anthony’s Tce and so was I and her cousins, the Ridge family. She was a wonderful Bohermore girl. Heartfelt sympathy to Joanne, Paddy, Kevin, her sisters Esther and Margaret and all her family. I am so sorry I was not at Mamie’s funeral. Lifelong friends.

This message comes from Canada, from Mary O’Hara’s first granddaughter. It has been really moving to read so many thoughtful condolences. It's regrettable we cannot be there with our family in person now, but I appreciate this space is here for us to share our thoughts.

Although we never had much time together, I know my grandmother well through the people that love her. She was a woman of immense strength and courage, independent and determined. She did everything for her three children, to give them the best start that she could. She was tough to impress, and extremely witty. I will remember her by her voice on the phone, asking how I was doing in school and at work, and when was I going to get married. (Hah)

Nana, if I could say anything to you now, it would be thank you for raising your son with all your love and concern, because he always attributed his nature to you. He is the best father to us, and his kindness and strength have been a cornerstone of our development. So many of his values come from you, and we uphold them, because we know it makes us better people. Thank you for dedicating your life to your home and your family. We are thinking of you, and everyone who is grieving now that you are gone.
