Mary & I were lifelong friends since meeting in secondary school in Scoil Mhuire, Carrick-on-Suir and kept in regular contact down the years. She was a true friend and scholar and will be very sadly missed but not forgotten. Sincere condolences to all her cousins, friends, neighbours & her local community. From me and all the extended Norris family in Rathgormack.

So very sad to hear of our cousin Mary's tragic death. I have such fond memories of visiting Raheen every year on our summer holidays and the hours we spent playing on the old tractors and in the hay barns, it was always the highlight of my holiday. Rest in Peace Mary.

It was a privilege to have a person like Mary in my life. She was a treasure to know. She had so many passions and interests: the farm, her dogs, family history, history of the parish church, poetry, and reading the great books. I will always treasure the two weeks she spent with my husband, Christophe and me in the U.S. .A remarkable woman. May she rest in peace and be reunited with the ones she loved.

Sincere sympathy to Mary’s relatives and friends on their loss of Mary. Her sudden death was a dreadful shock to all who knew her. She was always such a pleasure to meet and the highlight of knowing her was listening to her impart her incredible knowledge about local history and particularly family history. Without her love of research and her ability to “tell the stories” our lives would be a lot less interesting for not knowing our family history! Thank you Mary and rest in peace!

Mary was a regular visitor of my parents, Michael & Teresa O'Loughlin. She said Dad was one if her mother's favourite first cousins. He had lived through over 90 years of history & they had great chats about people & farming. She kept Mam updated on the goings on in her native Piltown. Hopefully they are all having a catch up now.
