So sorry to hear that Mary passed away, Ciara. I've only heard of it today. She was always warm and welcoming and had been good to me and the boys. Our deepest sympathy to you and the whole family.

So sorry Ciara to hear of the passing of your kind and wise mother Mary. As a teenager babysitting you, she gave me wonderful advice and life lessons. Many of which I remember still. Most recently she was a dear friend to my father Eddie. She was a very special person. May she rest in peace.

I am very sorry to learn that Mary has passed. One of the most fun people from our classes at Trinity and King’s Inns, she was unfailingly helpful, kind and funny. She would say that she “got me in to King’s Inns” (she delivered important application docs, so she essentially did!). She also spent hours helping me trawl through Daft when I was house hunting, and came with me on my first viewing of the house I now live in - so she got me housed, too!

On nights out, she charmed every waiter, simply by looking them in the eye and being herself. Anyone in her orbit was supplied with an untold number of “extra” drinks and heavy pours, just for sitting next to the most pleasant customer, Mary.

When out walking on Howth head, she’d command her companions to be sure to “smile at the tourists and say hello”, because “we (Ireland) need the money!”.

She loved her family so much and one of my favourite memories is trying to race around Dublin City centre with her and the four grandkids, trying to catch a glimpse of Ciara and Paul running the marathon.

She was a force of nature.
