My deepest sympathies to you, PJ, on the passing of your beloved
wife, Mary and to John, Emmet and Niamh on the death of your dear mother.
I taught with Mary in Coláiste Phobail for many years, from the time of the amalgamation in 1999, until her retirement, 2014 I think, and in fact we taught together in the same room on a few occasions. Indeed, she was a great help to me on a number of occasions when dealing with a few difficulties.
She was unfailingly good humoured, as evidenced by her regular hearty laugh, especially when engaging in banter with our dear, late colleague, Mick O,' Shea, lifting the mood of the staff.
Mary had a good balance in exercising proper authority and yet an understanding attitude to students and their problems.
I pray eternal joy and peace on her precious soul and the Lord's deep consolation to you all at this difficult time. Flann.

It was always with a beautiful smile and a humorous comment that she would make her way past me in the staffroom or corridor. These memories are ones that will always stick with me.
