Very saddened to hear of Marys passing. Mary was a valued member of the teaching team at the College of Nursing at Tallaght hospital. She was hard working, caring and loyal to both colleagues and students alike, even when she herself was going through some rough personal periods. She was generous with her time, thoughtful with her deeds and had the ability to laugh at herself and with everyone. I shall cherish even more the Wedding Rose she gave me as a wedding gift. Rest in peace, Mary.
Mary, I would be there at your funeral but I’m away in USA . You were a great person and friend.Your heart was always in the right place, you will be missed by many xxxx
I am so sad to hear the news of Mary's passing.
Many years ago, I was one of her students at St. Michaels Hospital School of Nursing.
She was a wonderful teacher, not just of academics, but also kindness, compassion and tolerance. She was herself the quintessential example of these qualities.
These same qualities she imbued in so many of her former students, who then took them all over Ireland and the world in their own professional careers.
May Mary's legacy continue to live and flourish in the global nursing commumity.
Rest in Peace Mary.

I met Mary through Una Halligan and admired their loyalty and friendship. As a fellow nurse tutor, Mary impressed and reassured me that it was more than ok to be human and show frailty in a world where this was not particularly encouraged. I wish solace to Lisa, Gerard and Una and all of Mary’s family. I have no doubt that Mary will have one of the best spots in heaven. Rest in peace Mary
I was deeply saddened to hear of Mary’s passing.
I remember her as a nurse tutor back in 1984, a time when so much of what we would become in our professional lives was still being shaped. Mary was more than a teacher; she was a steady influence, one of those rare individuals who left a lasting mark not through noise or recognition, but through quiet example, standards, and belief in those she taught.
She will always be remembered with respect, gratitude, and genuine affection.
My thoughts are with her family, Mrs H and all who knew her.

Gerard, Lisa and family,
I am so deeply saddened to hear of Mary's passing. She was an incredible teacher; kind, caring, compasionate, highly knowledgeable and very funny. She inspired so many of her pupils who passed through her hands in St. Michaels Hospital. She is remembered with deep fondness and appreciation.

Thinking of you Ger, may your dear mother Mary rest in peace. Sending love
Mary was my friend from the very first day we worked together. That was 1980. A great friendship & work relationship developed while teaching student nurses in St.Michael’s & St. John of God Hospitals.
Mary was a joy to work with because she had a wonderful sense of humour. Someone described this as a “wicked sense of humour”….
When Mary first arrived we shared an office. We laughed together- a necessity for sanity in those faraway times. Our deep friendship was forged by our mutual love of passing on the Art & Science tenants of nursing to the most enthusiastic (and easy to teach) groups of nursing students.
Mary was a gifted teacher as hundreds of former students will attest.
These students are now in every continent on the globe. Since hearing of Mary’s illness & death I have been inundated with calls, texts & messages from places as far apart as Tasmania, Norway, Perth, Long Island, Sweden, Texas, Arizona, Sydney…. All concerned & asking for their former Principal Tutor.
Mary became a friend to my whole family. In fact Mary possessed many gifts -notably the gift of friendship. We visited her & Gerard first thing each Christmas morning.
Mary was rightly proud of Gerard. Lisa returned to Mary’s life 30 years ago. Callum - Mary’s grandson- another person for her to love. When Laura & Gerard’s daughter, Ada arrived last August she became a major part of Mary’s life.
Mary will be missed by me & my family.
Mary my dearest friend rest easy in eternal peace.
