Martin and Paul, Helen and all the family, I’m so shocked and very sad to hear that darling Mary has died. Please accept our deepest sympathy. I’ll always remember the night I dropped Mary home from the Christmas party in Naas Golf Club. I had only known her a short while. She was insisting on me staying in her house as she didn’t want me driving any further in the dark. I was very touched at her sincere concern for me. She was a very kind and caring person and an absolute hoot to play golf with. On every occasion we had the greatest laugh. She spoke about you all very often and I was sure to get an update of the latest escapades of her precious son Paul. Lots of love to you all and I’ll be praying for you.

She was an excellent Home Economics teacher, the kind who taught far more than recipes or stitches. She shared patience, confidence, and a quiet belief in her students, helping many feel capable for the first time. Her classroom was a place of warmth, learning, and care, and her influence carried far beyond its walls. Though she has passed away, the skills she taught and the kindness she showed live on in the lives she touched. She will be remembered as a teacher, a friend and colleague with gratitude and deep respect. May she rest in peace.
