As I grew up, living across the road and playing with Edwin (and Pat ) almost every day, Mary Carr was always "Mrs Carr" to me.
She was a friendly, reassuring presence. And organised and efficient, welcoming and hospitable.
She was a great source of Mi-Wadi ? and biscuits in the 1970's.
She tolerated crazy, intense games of cricket, played in her back garden - very close to her kitchen window - (although soccer on the front lawn was not tolerated).
The Carrs had multi-channel TV quite early on.
I remember we used to spend Summer afternoons watching Wimbledon with Mrs Carr (with the curtains drawn against the sun)...and wrestling on Saturdays and The Big Match on Sundays.
She was fiercely proud of all her children.
May she rest in peace.

Ailish and Jim, I was sorry to hear the sad news about your Mam. I remember her from our too long ago school days . My sympathies to all the family

Deepest sympathy to Ailish, Jim, David, Pat and grandchildren on Mary s death. So many fond memories of Mary, her kindness, calmness and friendliness As neighbours our children - and we knew Edwin best -moved comfortably between our two houses. When Edwin and Con started school Jim rushed home during his lunch hoir to collect then from Firhouse School. Mary's passing is a reminder of what a good and safe and friendly place Woodbrook was for our growing families. And Carr's was central to that. May Mary Rest in Peace along with Jim and her youngest son Edwin. Anne snd family
