Our heart felt sympathy to Valerie and all family members on the passing of Matt. He was devoted to his family and was proud of their achievements. He was a hard working man with a deep interest in farming and a great love of animals. We have great memories of chatting with Matt with his dog sitting beside him in the jeep. Matt was a wonderful neighbour and the safety of the community was a top priority to him. He will be sadly missed by all. Rest in peace Matt.

My Sincere condolences & sympathy to Conor and all of the Moore family on the passing of your father. May he rest in peace.

Our deepest sympathies to Valerie and family on their great loss. Matt was a man of wide interests and many wonderful qualities. Earlier this year he wrote a beautiful obituary for my late brother-in-law Willie who was a resident of Oakdale. I cannot match his eloquence or wit in both writing and speaking.

Matt displayed great care and compassion for those in the care of Oakdale and his presence greatly enhanced the quality of their lives. He enlivened all gatherings with his irrepressible good humour and all visitors were welcomed as if they were family. He would drop everything at a moment's notice to help anyone.

He was never conventional, always full of surprises. One never knew where or when Freddie the donkey would make an appearance. On one notable occasion he collected Willie from Oakdale on a Sunday morning and headed off to Dublin for the All-Ireland final followed by a tour of the city in a squad car and a visit to Store Street Garda station. I have no doubt that Willie will be among the first to welcome him to his new life. Matt touched many lives and he will be greatly missed by those of us fortunate to have known him.

Our deepest condolences, Valerie, Amy, Conor, Kate, Ellie, brother Frank and the wider Moore family on the untimely passing of a consummate soul, Matt. So grateful to have brushed off him in the Investigation Unit at Garda Headquarters in the early eighties and enriched by the experience. Go dtuga Dia suaimhneas síoraí dá anam cróga. I was heartbroken to hear of Matt's passing on Monday. I worked with him for over 20yrs, we laughed, we cried, we fought, but most importantly we had each others back.
He would be very proud of his family, neighbours and friends today for a lovely send off.
I will miss this Laois man(who lived in Offaly...). Rest in peace Matt.
