My deepest sympathies to Anne, Jason and family.
I got to know Matthew 20 years ago when I taught Jason in 5th class. I met Matthew at various meetings that year and he was always a complete gentleman. During the year I allowed all boys to bring something in to ' Show and Tell'. Most boys brought in something that they had won or cherished. However, Jason opted to bring an award in that Matthew had won. I remember marvelling at how proud Jason was of his Dad winning this award and how confident he was telling his classmates and myself all about his wonderful Dad what his Dad had done in order to win this prestigious award.
As the years went on I got to know Matthew better through working on the BOM. He was extremely proud of his family and often spoke of the boys. He had a great sense of humour and worked tirelessly for our school providing unwavering support to us all over the years.
He is a tremendous loss to St Colmcilles BNS and to all who knew him. May he rest in peace.

I was very sorry to hear the very sad news of Matthew’s death. I knew him as a parent, a member of the Parents’ Association, a Board of Management member and Treasurer of the Board of Management of St Colmcille’s BNS. In all of these roles, Matthew was always positive, loyal and supportive. He attended all school events and always congratulated the pupils and staff on their endeavours. He was an absolute gentleman, and always willing to assist in every way possible. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis.
