Matt was a regular in The Irish Village for years.. he sat in with all the grumpy old men often as a referee, very rarely a combatant.. He had a dry but great sense of humour, and it was always a pleasure to have a pint with him..i send all the love from The Irish Village to his family from his Dubai family..take care and know we will miss him..Dave

When I was a pupil in the Friary School, here in Dundalk, Matt and I were best friends and we partnered in the “ Three Legged Race” in the Friary Sports, we were first home in our race and got two nice prizes for our efforts.
I have fond memories of Matt’s gentle nature, his inquisitive mind, his creativity and his wicked sense of humour.
He made a lasting impression on me and I have often thought of where in the world he might be.
I’m saddened to hear of his passing but I have lovely memories of our great times in The Friary School.

Very sad to hear of Matt's passing in Augsburg. The last time I seen him we were having a few pints in Byrnes. RIP.
