Josie, my sincere sympathies to you & all the family. I just learned that Mattie passed away. May his gentle soul Rest in Eternal Peace & my thoughts & prayers are with you all at this most difficult time.

It's nearly two months since Mattie's passing from us. As each day goes by, his absence is deeply felt by all who knew him well. He was such a serene and dignified person.
We all miss his different take on life, the twinkling look in the eye and the iconoclastic humour. Always the most interesting of people and a total gentleman. Always so supportive!
To you Josie, Kevin, Fionan, Noelle and family - and extended family - every blessing in the days ahead. You and all of us are blessed with such happy memories of Matt.

Có bhrón o'm chroi le Josie, Kevin, Fionnán agus le Kevin - deartháir Matt. The McDonaghs were my next door neighbours when we were growing up in Doonbeg . I have fond memories of all of them and as a child I was often in their house with my late sister, Betty who was Eileen's best friend. When Matt decided to give up playing football for Doonbeg it seemed like the end of the world for the parish. No more would Josie and I cheer on the "Magpies" from the sideline.
