Dearest Doreen and Amanda and all of Mattie Joe's close and extended families. I was so shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden passing of dear Mattie Joe. There are no words adequate to express my heartfelt sadness. Mattie Joe was one in a million. His quick wit his Joie de Vivre his love of the fabulous Jack Russells dogs. His eye for a good hunter will never be surpassed. Mattie Joe will be missed by so so many friends but especially his sister Mary and brother Charlie . I know that himself and the late Carlo and Ria are sharing a load of catch ups in God's heavenly kingdom. I will keep everyone in my daily thoughts and prayers are dheis dhea go raibh a anam dilis, Resta In Pace dearest friend Mattie Joe.

Frank, Stephen & I are so very sorry to hear of Mattie Joe's untimely death in recent days. He gave me two pieces of advice in yesteryear, one was to ask Des Taylor to take Stephen's First Holy Communion photos, not knowing Des was a photographer we were delighted with the advice, we did ask him and were thrilled with the pictures. Mattie Joe's other advice was for me to read The Secret Garden, which he considered was life-affirming. I read it at the time and loved it, I'll read it again now in his memory. A man who was inspirational in the face of adversity Mattie Joe was ever optimistic and a pleasure to meet around the village. Sincere condolences to you Doreen, to Amanda & Joe, to all the Greville family and to Mattie Joe's friends and neighbours. He'll be missed far beyond Killucan.
